Pushbutton car radio..

Does anyone know a company in the UK which converts vintage, two dial pushbutton type car radios to run modern internals? Usually by putting the workings in the boot and just using the old facia.

Several US companies, but I cant find any UK based.

Funny you should ask this, we're looking at doing some "in-house" as they are the sort of thing we need for a lot of the retro projects we undertake.

My biggest problem was finding a decent quality momentary rotary switch (centre off, left and right two separate "on" positions)

We were trying to set up a remote I-pod controller using a classic pushbutton radio, and seperate amp....................

Very frustrating, I can't recall the name of the one in Practical Classics but they've used them. I seem to recall they did a conversion in the Super Snipe....

Sorry, with the way things are (incredibly busy!!) It will be a while, and if something comes up "on the market" at a sensible price we'll probably be buying one or two in ourselves!!

There is definately someone in Practical Classics overhauling/retro fitting classic radios with new internals.

Stick a line on their forum

Apart from not being able to recall who that was, I cannot recall what he charged for the service either...
