Oulton saloons and sports 1988
Spotted this on the tube. There's a good race long battle between the Escort and the Jaguar, I think it's Chris Maries and Duncan
Hamilton?
Oulton park 1988
Enjoy.

That Jag looked a real beast,I enjoy watching those video's from around that era,I spoke to Chris Maries brother yesterday,he said he is well on
the mend now,but he does not think he will make the 1st race of the season, but is expecting to be back in the car towards the end of April.

Having raced an Anglia at Mosport in the late 60's, that is one modified yellow Anglia mid pack.

I think I recognise the red Elan as the one developed by John Fyda before he went Clubmans racing.

In which case, being 1988, it was in the hands of Roddy Paterson, erstwhile hillclimber in a fiat X1/9.
John Fyda had already raced the 24/27 Mallock and was onto a Vision V87 by this point (usually found at the pointy end of the field slugging it out
with Kenny Allen in the very similar car.)
I know, I'm sad, but it's my era.

And I'll add that the Red TVR S was probably the Cosworth powered car of Russell Paterson.

According to the youtube comments, the driver of the red Elan is Roger Mathews. At the time I think there were a few similar Elans racing,
there's one driven by Mark Campbell entered in the first rounds of the NSSCC at Croft next month. I'm not sure of it's lineage, but
it looks similar to the 1988 one...

..an even older Oulton clip, when men were men, armco hadn't been invented, but that's what the trees are for! Graham Hill and Jackie
Ickx in the wheel waving Mk2 Cortinas. (I didn't know that, I read it in the description. )
Who needs four wheels, three's enough!
