What to do with a bunged-up paint aerosol?

When I've finally finished the fitting of my windscreen and all the trimmings, I will need to fill some holes and respray my scuttle.

I have a full (normally very good quality) spray can of the correct colour cellulose paint, but it won't spray properly (all spluttery). I have tried soaking the nozzle in thinners, but that didn't help (I think it's run out of puff). Trouble is, I can't get another as the supplier doesn't sell cellulose any more, and it's hard to get the right colour from an on-line supplier.

If I can get the paint out of the can I will be able to use a spray-gun to apply it. I guess that I need to lose the remaining propellant, but no idea of the risks involved.

Has anyone tried? If so, any clues?

I'm assuming "put a nail through it" is not the answer you want to hear?

place it in a pan of hot water shake well first this will increase the pressure inside

Warm it in a bowl of water? The air/propellant should expand and give it a bit more oomph!

Just remembered - the supplier gave me a new nozzle in case the old one was blocked - same result when I tried it ages ago.

If I could get the paint out I could do the job...

I want to collect the paint, not distribute it far and wide!

Put the can in a bucket, cover the top with clingfilm and use a sharp probe to puncure the can? Don't blame me if you end up with "yellow fever"

If you hold it upside down and press the nozzle for long enough then surely it'll empty the propellant and pressure ?
