Dominator TS400 - Kit Car Crisis

We've all seen the programme above and how it all eneds in disaster with the chassis proving to fall to bits under the strain of what it was asked to do.

Pistonheads currently has a body and chassis for sale. I have no intention of buying, but for educational purposes, what would you change in the pic below ?

Get your paint programme out.
Start sticking in big fat red lines to show
the chassis tubes you think he missed
out / got wrong.

Zil that particular car has been mentioned on here before. He's purporting to that being an MK GT1 chassis?

Why is the tube between the rear suspension tops bent?

Oops, you're right, it is an MK chassis

In that case, it's amazing the loads that an unsupported bit of inch square furniture tube will take...
(Removes tongue from cheek.)

It might be an MK chassis, but it does look badly bent between the roll cage plates. Has he bought a crashed one?

Seems a little lacking in triangulation around the rear suspension. But I guess there's supposed to be a chain drive diff mounted there in some kind of cradle that may add strength.

Money he's selling for seems reasonable for the body+suspension IF you know what you are getting into and have the skills to upgrade it properly.

Is it an optical illusion or are there two tubes right at the front that stick out into fresh air?

No i think you are being realistic - why buy a chassis that is proven to fail?

Has the MK GT1 chassis been proven to fail then? (rather than the Dominator one from Kit Car Crisis).

Don't like the rear coil over mounts at all, but I can't see anything bent like a banana; the tube that the roll bar plates are welded to is designed to have two bends in it, right at the points it's braced to the small "tunnel" near the front.

The MK one hasnt no, but the Pistonheads advertised one is the Dominator chassis isnt it - and thats what we're talking about (or i am at least).

I'd be very happy to be building an MK GT1 myself - or the Spire Sportscars incarnation as it is now if i was in the market for that type of car

If it is a GT-1 chassis, then it has been chopped around a bit.

If you don't think it's a genuine MK Martin, then it probably isn't.

Looks quite similar in some respects, but a good bit different to mine.

As to his comment about the Dominator being better looking. Well, each to their own but I disagree.
