I'd go for the C4 but the focus is probably the best car.

For handling the Focus
For a quality interior the Golf
For looks the C4

is the c4 the one where the steering wheel turns but the airbag stays still?

if so then that's well cool

I'd probably still go for the golf though.

I'm easily impressed with all of that perceived quality nonsense.

So.

Open and close a back door on the C4.
The do it with the Golf.

Then go to the VW dealer and order a Golf.

A workmate has a C4 and it's pretty lightweight in comparison to another one's Golf IV.

On the upside the HDi engine is much more linear than the VAG TDI. On mine the power is reasinably useful from around 14-1500 rpm and will pull happily from 1200. On a TDI there's sod all until 1,900 then all hell breaks loose.
the HDi is also far less gruff feeling than the TDI.
Both of the above are much much smoother than the Vauxhall CDTi 1.7 which is a terrible feeling motor and is very percussive, even under low throttle / light load.

I drive a Citroen myself (9 year old Synergie) but that's not really a proper Citroen as it doesn't have interior plastics made from the same plastic as the trays insde Christmas selection boxes.

The C4 has the best ride of all the option and is the most comfortable, But the interior will get scratched to pieces and bits will fall off, also expect all the words and symbols to wear off the buttons, thats why I wouldn't reckomend buy citreons even though I love them.
