Jaguar XJR6 GEMS ecu
Anybody know whether these can be run stand alone or not?
Just picked up the XJR6donor for out little project, and half stripped it. Sold some parts already, rest going on ebay tomorrow.
Reckon we will get back enough that the engine, box and all ancilliaries will be free
Anyway, pretty much resigned to using an aftermarket ecu to run it, but just wanted to check in case the std GEMS unit can be easily used (I doubt it
but you never know!)

The GEMS's ECU on a P38 rangerover is not even swappable between cars, we tried to test a fault on a car that had a miss at 2000rpm, moving
across and neither car would even fire.
On rangerover they are tied to the security system so I doubt very much if it will work unless you move all the bits across, that will also include
dashboard and BEMS... I think its called, a separate box that manages the rest of the car, on a RR it also contained odometer so you could not clock
the car.
Best spend a bit more I recon

Until I get my autodata discs back, I can't confirm what is connected to what, but it certainly appears that the ecu is connected into all sorts
of other bits, dash, security ecu etc.............
Any more opinions?

Connect everything up as it was in the donor and get it running, then start removing bits until it has the bare essentials to start and run. Than
make a choice of keeping it vs. another ECU.

lol easier said than done!!
To give you some idea of the scope of the loom, the car has 5 fuseboxes containing 90 fuses, and there are 9 ecu's.......................
Think I'm fitting DTA
