Tintop brakes
I've got to change the rear pads on my tin top it's a 08 civic type r what's the correct way do I take the cap of the filler so
there's no pressure then push the pistons back or do I just push themback
will they need bleeding after
and does anyone have any tips with these brakes or are they straight forward
cheers adam

Many cars need the rear pistons winding back in (with the cap off) because of the handbrake mechanism.

Strictly speaking if you were to remove the cap (which would relieve pressure) you're then letting moisture in so you'd need to replace
the brake fluid. Also you have to wind them for the handbrake. Further be careful the Mondeo has some sort of one way valve that you can pop inside
out if you're not careful and apparently this ruins the lot.

Clamp and disconnect the brake hose first.

Why?? If you slacken the bleed nipple and connect a bleed bottle any excess fluid will flow out of the nipple when the piston is wound back which on
some cars is the safest way of doing the job without collapsing the master cylinder (Astra's etc)

Sorry I meant slacken the nipple lol - I was thinking more along the lines of pushin fluid into the ABS unit with when I worked at TRW/Lucas was a big
no no.
