To answer your question: yes. Some people even build their own cars instead of just going down to the lot and buying a premade one that gets them from
A to B just as efficiently, perhaps more so...

how can the roof be missing since it has roofracks and sunroof
It is a H&S thingy that i was told.
In cases of big shunts, the firemen chop off the roof to gain easier access to remove passengers who might have suffered injuries

I would imagine that its because it was a glass roof and has disappeared in the accident?
Engine and Drivetrain would be interesting in a kit car...

Came across a brand new Chrysler Voyager a few years ago that looked like this. A relatively small shunt but the female driver was making an issue of
complaining about a sore neck. Trumpton did what the needed to do to get her out and gave her the first Voyager Cabrio
She was last seen buy the brigade walking down the street shaking her head trying to explain to her husband why the nice men had just cut his roof
off

I would assume the roof was cut off by the emergency services to ensure safe removal of the occupants.

On the other side of the scrappies!
Why export only? You think they'd allow that to go back on the road elsewhere? Thing is it makes me wonder if the engine would be legal to use..

Presumably cat B so cannot be returned to the road in the UK. Would be ok to use the engine in a kit-car as you are allowed to sell the parts.
