Tin top Column lock help.....
Friend has a Rover 600. Yesterday the key wouldn't turn in the ignition lock. I ended up dismantling the steering column lock and once it was
off the key turned so he was able to get home.
Question is should I take the whole issue apart and lube or replace the unit, if so who supplies?
Key seems pretty slack in the lock and spare key wouldn't work either.
Can I disconnect the electrics or are these coded ?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Pewe
C'mmon guys I know it's a Rover but someone must have some ideas????
Thanks BT VV- tried the wiggling but have assumed the barrel's fooked.
Thinking of transferring the boot lever lock barrel (on the floor right of driver's seat) unless that's a service only lock?
Ta, P.

Usually a bit of gentle waggling of the steering wheel works, pre R75 Rover steering locks are similar they didn't really change much since
early 1970s, they stick bit but nothing really ever goes wrong with them.
Wash it in solvent (such as carb or brake cleaner) and lube with graphite powder lock lubricant.
