recommend a car for the other half please
So the gf has decided she wants a different car. Her dad thinks she should get a 944 but she thinks it will be too big for her. Having finally managed
to get out of her what she wants in a car, I have the following list:
- Current car: R reg Corsa
- Budget of £2 - £2.5k
- 2 seater
- Convertible is an option
- Engine size: nothing too thirsty but still has some grunt
- Something that looks feminine but not too much (seeing as I will also need to be able to drive it at times!)
Anyone have any suggestions? She does like some of the older/classic style cars but I dont know enough about them to know what to recommend and if
they are within her budget.
Thanking you all in advance

Tegwin - I mentioned a MX-5 to her too. Ideally she needs to increase her budget but hey ho. I'm still trying to persuade her to buy your car..
I will happily chauffeur her around in it if she thinks its too big for her!

Alfa Romeo GTV or Spider (may even be able to get a 3.0v6 GTV for that money - though you're looking at a 2.0 twinspark in Spider guise for the
same money.)
Both look good, handle well and being a bloke, you won't mind driving the Spider. I had one and thought it was a great little car.

You could do a lot worse than a 944, but a good look around for an original un resprayed / molested one is essential.
I've had a couple they're great handling cars 50 - 50 weight distribution, and quite a wide track..... High 20's MPG often more
driven respectfully.

Budget isn't enough to get a reliable convertible that won't need constant tinkering and spending or isn't patched up a rust
bucket.
Sorry but what she really needs is a euro-box

Add another 2.5k for the maintenance budget.

If you go for an early Megane cab avoid anything with an F5R 2.0 engine like the plague.

Bizar statement.
Why are you saying that????
My sisters got 87,000miles.
Never had any problems.
There are one or two over here in France as well.
Because most renaults that have an F5R engine in have had a replacement engine at some point in there life, which still didn't cure any of the
problems!

There's a Y plate 106 sat in our back garden, all it really needs is a couple of quid set of clips to replace a trim piece and some wing mirrors
would be nice but not essential as the current ones are tied on...
Plus it's a bit girly, about as much as the corsa really

Porsche ball joints cost $400 each in Canada. I certainly hope they are cheaper where you are, should those need replacing in your 944. Truly insanely
expensive are Porsches here.

Any one else think there are alot more cars consider Girly than there are manly?
I'd love a 944, but only a Coupé, I love the way it looks and with alot of cars like it the best bits are cut off to make the convertible. I
really want a Jenson Interceptor which is the same story.
