car tax issue....

Went to get a new tax disc today but because the car had a cherished number on for its mot they won't accept it, so in turn I can't tax the car, I pointed out the engine/chassis number etc is the same but they're still saying no!

Anyone know what I should do to sort this out?

As I understand it, if there has been a change of Reg No, after Mot then the Old MOT certificate should be appropriately stamped by the DVLA at the time of REG number change. If not then.............

Has the car been registered with the cherished number or had the number transfered yet?

if you've transferred a cherished number off the car after its mot, you should still display the old number until you receive your ammended tax disc/MOT certificate from the DVLA at that time you can change your plates, and will have a matching MOT to allow you to tax the car.

Yeah if you do a transfer nowdays you get your ammended tax discs and ammended MOTs in the post after about 3 days, then the ammended V5s a week later (did it last week)

So if your plate has been transferred off and you've had approval to use the original reg again on the vehicle then at the same time you will have been provided with an updated MOT showing the original reg (or whatever new reg they have re-assigned to it)
