Where Do BMW Boxer Twin Engines...
... go to die?
There's only a handful of them on eBay and most are pretty sorry looking lumps!

That's what I'm starting to think! Do BMW bikes not get written-off whenever they get a scratch on them like every other bike on the
planet!

BMW riders are not the same as normal bikers.
We have a guy local who is a bit of a BMW guru, Boxers specifically.
I remember him doing a twin plug conversion on one a zillion years back.

my mate has dropped his GS1200 a few times plus been knocked of by a van, and the bike hardly got a scratch, bloody excellent bikes! And the GS is
faster than any superbike in the real world on real UK roads!

They don't sell in huge quantities and their values hardly drop at all. My dad paid more than list price for his R1200GS in 2005 because of the
waiting list. Even now you'll pay more for a 6 month to year old one than a brand new one! The people who buy them are the sort of people that
like to keep them in one piece.....

Is the problem that because it is a boxer, with a pot sticking out each side, when you drop it - it takes a pot off and kills the engine?

I bought one of the back of the long way down stuff. BMW bought it back off me after 2000 miles as it had 2 gearboxes then when the final drive thats
suppose to be sealed for life leaked on my tyre enough was enough
They had it back so thats where a good amount must go!
