Just thought I'd share this picture with you all, this is my legs, 3 days after doing about 6 minutes of stick welding on a steel trailer floor!!

Yep, same here used to weld in shorts and flip flops back in cyprus.

You knew it was sunny when you put on the welding mask (not auto-darkening), and you could actually still see what you were doing through the dark glass!!!!

Getting a blob of weld between two toes and my flip flop was quite painful though. Not as bad as I would've imagined though

Lol. What you really dont want to do, during the early stages of construction of your chassis, is to turn it up-side-down for the first time and eagerly do all the bottom tack welds just closing eyes instead of wearing a mask and having to flip it up and down every few seconds(didn't have an auto dimming one back then). Ouch. Whole face peeled a few days later

Watch American Chopper - they tack-weld without masks, just close their eyes.

Its not so bad (tan-wise) for a flash of tacking, but still a silly risk; both arc eye and the piece moving whilst you blink.

Wear a pair of safety glasses if spot welding without the mask. That will stop any arc-eye.

I tried to watch it on Quest the other day but they were all such pr!cks I had to switch off. It's close to the deadline and I don't think we'll finish in time, I know I'll get a tattoo.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
