mk2 mondeo driveshaft

Hi all

need to use my mondeo to tow to North Weald this sunday.

only about 10 miles but on full lock I am getting a clicking noise from the o/s cv joint..

I have managed to pick up a second hand complete driveshaft.

planning to change it saturday, anything I should be aware of.

do i need any special tools or to order new hub nut etc.

Thanks Gavin

A very big socket Undo the hub nut. Split the bottom ball joint. Two m6 nuts holding the inner bearing carrier on and it should just plop out.

With the gearbox oil if you havnt draind it.

its not a bad job if the diff lets go of the inner joint. And I have had the pinch bolt shear on the bottom ball joint before.

any idea on the socket size ?

i basically have saturday to get it done.

if i jack up the o/s only will i still loose the gearbox oil?

if the pinchbolt snaps is that a new hub?

thinking i might risk it as is and do after sunday

No just nock the pinch bolt out and fit another.

I can have a look on size tomorrow night as ive got one sat on the drive.

I am sure you will still loose oil.
