Human Powered Car

There is no way he could make it go that fast without getting power from somewhere else!

No way a person (or even 4) could make that travel continuously at 60 mph, but there's obviously some sort of energy storage on board (flywheel, battery? not sure as I watched without sound). It would be perfect feasible for a significant period of pre-cranking to get you a few seconds at 60 mph!

An American engineer has developed a car that can run purely on people power and reach speeds of up to 60mph.

Thats a piece of pee.
I can do that in about 20 seconds.
I am going to design a pedal car that travels at 3mph. Thats in the region of 'upto' 60mph. It doesn't say 'over' a certain speed, just somewhere upto that speed. Like the sales, upto 75% off retail price, ie 10% off

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

The mental gymnastics a landlord will employ to justify immoral actions is clinically fascinating. Just because something is legal doesn't make it moral.

Ounded like the old friction motor toy cars I had as a kid, 3 good pulls backwards and it would fly down the living room at quite a pace.
Ther is probably a flywheel storage device as well as solar batteries and an electric motor.
That plus some film editing gives the illusion of more pace and distance than it realy has

This will be like those poxy flashlights that you shake for 5 minutes to get 30 seconds of light, only there would be even less return with a whole car to move around.

The chap in the video isn't doing much pumping is he?

hand cranks???

the biggest muscles on the human bony are gluteus maximus (buttocks) and qhadricepts (thick muscles), in comparison, unless you are Arnold S, arm muscles are rather puny.

look how fast the top elite wheelchair athlets fly are - I reckon that is more effiecient mode of transport and less weight (carbon fibre wheel chairs and no legs) yet I doubt they can do much of 30 mph* for any length of time.

* I suppose I should have googled this but ....

take a look at photo 6 - flat slabe for rear end, about as aerodynamic as a series land rover

.... and the guy looks like he is 70!

Two observations:
Stop the video at 46secs and look at the trees in the background, he's going downhill.
It appears that he uses body control to get it to stay on line.
