I'm a bigger idiot!

Just had to let you all in on my huniliation...

I use a moped to get to the train station in the mornings (i know - thats humiliating enough already!)

i was trying to replace an exhaust stud and broke part of the mating flange off so had to strip the bike completely and re-weld the flange....

got it all back together and the damn thing wouldnt start

pulled it apart again and check sparks etc - all seemed good....

(can you guess where were going yet?)

started checking fuel pump and appear not to be getting any fuel through..... so started to strip and check fuel system.... couldn't find a fault....

It was about this time my 17 year old daughter asked me if i had checked it had any petrol in it.......

if it makes you feel better....
back when i had a stupid turbo nutter japwagon, i was out driving and the car starting making some stange noises and then was cutting out on boost.

I decided to take it back home, checked it all out and couldn't see anything too wrong. Assuming it was a turbo issue, i took the turbo off and was checking the whole boost system, all looked fine....

Anyway, after 4 days of stripping bits off the engine it finally occurred to me i also had no fuel in the car!

what a div i felt!

I had similar - Spent weeks trying to get the MK Indy to run using megasquirt to eventually find out that the fuel pump was making a noise but not pumping...... Had always assumed it was pumping because I got the noise.

New pump sorted that one

Scot's do it better in Kilts.

MK INDY's Don't Self Centre Regardless of MK Setting !

We've all done it. The old fuel line I had in the 205 would perish at the ends so the fuel pump would suck on air. When I came to start it in april there was no fuel coming through (you can see where this is going), took the fuel line out, couldn't find anything wrong with it. Then I realised I'd left it with an empty tank before the winter... oooops!

The unfortunate part is that your 17 yr old daughter will store this in the memory bank and use it later in life.
