wheel travel query??????
Hi
Another late night on the attack has led to even more head scratching!!!!
I'm getting a bit tight in the packaging of the dampers, wondering if anyone knows what a 'sensible' amount of rear wheel travel for
the road would be?????

4" ?
From memory somewhere around 4" total, with 1" taken up when car sitting.

Mine appears to have approx 2" travel left on the shock while sat on its own weight(wheel will have slightly more due to location of
shock).can't remember how much droop there is,but never felt it bottom out even with 2 fat b*stars in it.hope this helps.

Springs
When I first built mine i had 140 lb rear springs ,which were pretty good for road use , but not enough travel in the shock so would bottom out with
bone jarring regularity.
I had to change them to 225lb and compromise the ride by controlling the travel.
Jon Ison built his Locost with angled rear shocks ,which changes the leverage /actual spring rate and can give more travel than the shock linear
movement, I thought that was a good idea, and if I could start again that would be my method.

I ran my numbers to have 1.5" static (droop) and 2.5" bump.
I have 4" travel shocks.
