parking ticket

Got a ticket outside my girlfriends yesterday.

We had bought a scrtach card month day type fromt he council (wandsworth) that you display in the window for £5

However I did not fill in the reg number. My own fault. So I got a £60 ticket.

However, the enforcer did not stick the ticket to my car, or even place it under the wiper. All of the envelope adhesive tabs and peel back areas are still in tact and the section where the enforcer should write their details on the envelope have also not been completed. Further more the envelope was not sealed. There are instuctions ont he evvelope for the officer to fill in the notice number ont he envelope adhesive which they have not. The evnelope has also not be made "water tight" as they did not even seal it off. As i say, the whole thing is untouched.

I think I have a fair bit of wriggle room here seeing as I could have easily never seen the ticket if it had blown off due to it not being fixed in anyway and their phot will prove this.

What do you chaps think? Couple of technicalities? I need to find the warden handbook and see if they have to stick it on and fill out the rear section. He/she has not filled in their "notice number" on the envelope, so why should I not fill in my reg number?

Its an obvious mistake, i still scratched out the card which we paid £5 for.

Take the ticket and permit to your local office and argue your point, when you win put a claim in for time/earnings etc, see how they like it.

If it's from a private parking company the usual advice is "ignore it"

If it's from council then best advice is post your story here...

Fill your plate in (maybe in faintly, but clear enough if you look propoperly), take it in and argue the lazy officer didnt not only fill his forms in properely etc, but didnt bother to look at the permit properly either.

you SHOULD be able to get it cancelled, but you know they will just keep saying you have to pay...

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

as above, write in feint pencil. Not very easy to take a photo of. Then take ticket and card to council office (assuming its a council parking ticket) and argue the toss as loud (but as polite) as you can in the office. They don't like that

If he's got a photo of a parkink ticket with no reg number on it they can't prove it's on your car. They'll have a photo of you car parked where they say and it's tax disc but neither will show the ticket so as the number can be read (uless it was right next to the tax disc).

ye goto council and ask for help with it.

if they dont listen write to them and explain teh situation and explain that you are struggling to read due to dislexia and see their response.

complete the letter stating that you are someone writing it on your behalf and then you sign it.

it will work.

they wont argue the point you didnt complete the form properly.

Hmmm thorny one, I guess you could ignore it and when they come back say "What ticket? There was a plastic envolope under my wiper..."

Similarly the ticket I got was handed to me personally as I was just returning to my car as he was filling it out, and I was debating saying I never got it as it would be so easy to see the warden filling one out and walk over going "Bugger, how much is it?"

thanks for all your comments.

I rung up the council who were very helpful - i was surprised.

I advised on what had happened, it was an honest mistake, but also relayed the mistakes the attendant had made also. apparently his notes say i did not display my reg on the 1 hour permit, however this is also incorrect as it was a 1 day permit.

the guy ont he phone agreed and is confident that with a decent letter is will get cancelled

will update

A small detail such as that usually gets you off, there have been a number of tickets thrown out because the double yellow line they were parked on weren't regulation size..
