Could be...

BUT...
Is it the high or low presure Turbo engine? As I believe there is a fair bit of difference in BHP output between them.

Hope its a good un.

Bargain! .... as long as the turbo hasn't blown, hence the blue smoke problem. Having said that, at that price .....

Cheers,
Raz

Uber Bargain!

The blue smoke could be a number of things but hopefully it wont be anything too major.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

It's a lot of metal for the money, so as long as it doesn't need anything major I'd say yes!

Bargain
Probably the turbo seals
Possibly due to cheap oil -sump sludge.
But a lot of car and worth it if you can diy fix

join this mob (other sites are also available)
could be turbo or valve guides depending on when it smokes.
check for oil sludge in the sump and cam cover, that can kill your engine,i am pretty familiar with the inner workings of my 9-5 now

MOT is in 11 days, it'll get the crankcase breather mods and a damn good oil change and clean out. a recon turbo is only £300.

Sounds like busted turbo, but that shouldn't be beyond a man of your skills.

Good bargain to my mind.

ASM in Thame have a few accident damaged Saabs that they are breaking. http://autos.blue-sock.com/clients/9/blist.php#vehicles
