OT - Milling Machines
My dads had an old S2 Bridgeport mill sitting in the workshop for a while now and it hardly gets used 
we've even got a load of cutters, clamping stuff and even a dividing head - so we really should use it more
the problem is he's never really used one before and I've used them very briefly at uni ( 8 years ago now  )
so I'm looking for a book/website to get us started properly as well as any hints, tips & tricks
and add to that we need to sort out something for better tool holding - having to use the plain collets at the moment as we've only got half of
one quick change system (and I'm not 100% sure which system it is...)

When i was an apprentice we got a full set of EITB (Eng Ind Training Board) training manuals. They were very good. I assume you have limited
experience with milling machines. might be an idea to see if there is anyone local who can show you the basics so you can get on and have some
practice. Main pointers are good work holding. Good set up (ie clean bed, vice set square etc). Decent coolant, correct feeds and speeds and lights
cuts at first until you get the hang of it. And of course make sure the E-stop works. Normal workshop safety rules apply.
Dividing head is a nice accessory. Wouldnt like to think i had to buy one these days.
Is the S2 a vertical miller. Very useful indeed if it is. Best pillar drill you will ever have!

I've covered most of that before at uni but that was a long long time ago and my notes are a bit rough.......
anyone got any more ?
