Transit connect power.
Hi, just purchased a transit connect 1.8 tubo, I was a little disapointed with the performance as I thought the
tubo would make it more lively. Am I expecting too much from the engine or do you think I may have a problem?
My old non turbo kangoo was a lot faster. Anyone had experience of this van, thanks.

if its the 75 bhp model and the early type then they do not set the world on fire the later type still with 75 bhp was a bit better
early type has mechanical injectors
later type have electrical injectors
I used to sell them

The only experience I have had was a few years when I was doing some courier work. Very nippy and capable of over 100mph, abroad of course. The
earlier ones did hace a few issuse with clutch, gearbox and front bearings but never sluggish.

Yes they are all detuned and are limp as a soggy biscuit......... Even breaking it in company van style made no differance
Two of them that we got as hires were new and equally dead

I Have two of the turbo 1.8's in my boat, and they are rated as 90 BHP each, (gives it around 18 Knots), the non turbo ones I am led to believe
are 70 BHP. Cheers Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

depends which model, back in 2003 i bought a 220 with the 90ps engine, it went pretty well for a van considering it was carrying around 500kgs most of
the time, i did over 60k in that van without a single problem, well almost, the rear silencer/exhaust broke away due to rusting on the weld, replaced
inder warranty no problem.
Than i traded it in against a 220 with the 110ps engine in 2007, was quite a difference between the power delivery of both vans, the 110 was also
better on fuel, foot to the floor everywhere (That's how you drive vans ) and it returned 37mpg against 34 for the 90. Only kept the 110 for
9 months and 20k, then traded it in against a transit as i needed more space.
Now on a transit and it's the worst van i've ever owned, does 30mpg if your very steady and has been back to the dealers for quite a few
warranty issues. Not so sure i'll buy another, could be a vw next time, but the transporter just isn't wide enough and the crafter is far
to big even in the swb model.

05 model works van here - not sure which engine power, but it's certainly no mover. Brakes are good though. It's alright to drive apart
from the lack of seat adjustment. I'm 5'10" and even with the drivers seat as far back as it'll go I still feel cramped.
