Because real LandRovers are very rare & expensive, plus the off-road abilties of this will obviously be much better than a LandRover, right?

There is a saying that you should never build something you can buy, it doesnt really apply to most kits as either you cant buy it or in the case of there being real versions of the replicas they are hugely expensive & often pretty rare too. This thing just doesnt make sense, apart from to give us lot a bit of a giggle mabye!

It is made of wood? Look like it from the engine bay.

I think the most concerning thing is the fact that there were 18 bids for it, so someone obviously wanted it

Should have been listed in hearses/ prisoner transporters.
Some one should have told the bloke who built it that Land rover have moved on a bit from the slab sided sheet metal job in the last 60 years and that quite often when designing things "less is more"

Not sur e if ther are 18 seperate bids- it might have just been a couple slugging it out

I thought the enging bay looked like it was wooden too.

Insurance would probably be less than a real one and it might be more economical maybe? That or maybe the parts are valuable or something (Perhaps the guys battling it out are after bits for there Vivas/Cortinas?).
