What car for the missus
After having the x reg Micra cat c'd the other week (can't believe they cat c'd it, broken headlight, dented front wing and wing
mirror, that was it!!)
I have been tasked to find a replacement, budget 2.5 to 3.5k.
Needs to be bigger than the micra due to six foot teenagers so 5 door. No bigger engine than 1.6 and reliable. Less than 80k. Hatchback
My list is
VW Polo 1.4 02 to 03 plate
VW Golf 1.6
Toyota Corrola
Honda Civic
Mazda 3
Fords and Vauxhalls are off the list.
Any more thoughts

The newer shape micra?
Also if you're willing to be flexible I'm sure you could get a 2002-06 mondeo in 1.8td flavour and I know it takes 6 foot teenagers, which
brings me to ask why Ford and Vauxhall are off the list?
Peugeot 206/7 or 306/7/8? (Not sure if they have a 308 yet..)

That would get you an 05~06 mg zs and as long as the head gasket and inlet manifold gasket has been done they are reliable. They are often low milage
aswell.

I'd look at the golfs/leons/a3 range.... A couple of people on here have them and recommend the leons

I personally hate fords and vauxhalls, proberbly with no real reason I just don't like being inside them they feel cheap to me. I know people
that love them but heh we can't all be the same.
I like the polo and golf, felt really well built and plenty of room in both.
I had a look in a leon but it didn't seem as nice inside and I think its dated a bit.

my Mg has been as reliable as anything elts ive ever owned. In 18 months or more ive had to replace the heater fan when it froze solid. 20min job and
cost a tenner.
used to love fords but they rust so quick
never a fan of vauxhalls.
vw you over pay for the name.

Get the Focus, best in class and mine have worn a lot better than the VW Golf we had before...also safer. Even Clarkson likes them! Second thoughts
that might be a bad thing.

That just be because they are reliable easy and cheap to maintain and can be found for a lot less that your budget, however they are
getting long in the tooth, so look for a 5 door Yaris 1.4 T3 D4d they are just about unbreakable and will do intergalactic mileages provide the
oil has be changed using fully synth at least the manufacturers intervals.
VW Polos aren't anything like as bullet proof as they used to be and the Golf is now somewhat large and over weight compared and greedy on
fuel to the brilliant earlier models.
