Two cars, two problems, what would you do?
Here's the dilemma, which one would you go for:
I stuck 1986 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 NO RESERVE on eBay (end time 13-Mar-11 12:00:24 GMT) on my watchlist yesterday, and
there's still no bidding.
There's a similar one I know of too, I shall come to that in a moment.
Pros: It starts and runs, bodywork is decent, it might well end up being chuffing cheap.
Cons: Newport is near Bristol, I'm near Chester. Thus I can't see it in person. I know I can walk away if it's not as described but
unless I'm going to make a 3.5 hour (each way) journey just to see it (is that feasible?) I'm likely to be there with a transporter of
some sort when I first see it.
Also the cost of shifting it will be a factor in the price, the quotes I've got so far are £165 to £220. Anyone ever hired a car/van and trailer
for this? I'm happy to do that myself.
The second motor is the same, 88 model in red.
Pros: It's in Warrington, so will cost a lot less for me to shift. Also there's a possibility I could pick it up for nothing.
Cons: It's been sat for years, will need some new panels and a good servicing. Inside is similarly tatty but otherwise good, also will require
new exhaust.
So as above, what would you go for, and how would you bring it back?

If the Bristol one is not as described you can renegotiate the price can't you (or walk away and the seller won't want you to do that)

Well there's a few good ones around, for about £1500... But I'd like something to work on too...

A £1500 pound Z car will need lots of work and spare are difficult to source ---- nice engine shame about the rest.

i can recomend some one who could get them moved at a good price.
also have they had the mod done to the oil ways?

Well like I say I'm looking at £170+ for Newport. What's this mod to the oilways?
Actually most decent running examples of this model appear to be fetching £1500, and only more if there's extra work done to them..

I'd check the spares situation very carefully and find out if any other models shared the mechanics. Be very fussy on things like missing trim
etc as they will be very hard to find
It's 5 years older than my Nissan and spares are now drying up for that, and how many more Bluebirds were made than 300zx's ?!
My strategy has been to buy about 2 spare parts off ebay every month and put them away in a cupboard, even have 2 full sets of spare glass
Fame is when your old car is plastered all over the internet

'Buy a Mondeo ?' I'd second that. As the great Jeremy Clarkson once said,"I don't know why people drive anything
else." or something along those lines anyway. Also I have problems regarding any Jap car as a classic. Still a stonking motor if thats what
you want.

I have a Mondeo, in fact I have the mondeo Clarkson raved about. It's a damn fine car too 
However I've always wanted something that gets my pulse racing, and the Z31 has been on my mind since I first saw one. Having said that
I'd also have a similar age Supra, but I've seen very few of them

The 300ZX is a bit of a barge, and the old normally aspirated Z31 isn't even particularly quick. 168bhp makes it about as quick as a warmish
hatchback (0-60 about 8.8 seconds) but with pretty awful fuel consumption. And rust.
