Second hand car pricing?

I'm considering changing my daily driver, so first task is to try to get an idea of the second hand value. (My car is an '07 plate Seat Leon 2.0 TDi 140 Reference Sport, with the BTCC bodykit, @ 70k on the clock) :-

Like this but without the fog lights on

So I called in to one of the car supermarkets yesterday and was shocked by the prices in the windscreens of their stock. IMHO well over what I'd pay for anything on the lot. They had a pair of 2.0 TDi Leons on a '57 plates, at £10k and £9k respectively.

I've checked a few other car supermarkets online, and they are all pricing around the same sort of value.

Do they expect people to negotiate hard? Or are second hand cars worth more than I think?

Parkers have my car at:-

£10.5k at a Main Dealer
£10k at an Independant Dealer
£9.5k Private Good Con
£8.5k Trade In

I know I'd need to adjust these prices for the mileage, but are second hand cars really achieving that strong pricing, or are they likely to hang around as stock for ever?

If it helps my mum just traded in a similar car:
Leon TDI reference with DSG, 56 plate, 11,000 miles and got £8800 - maybe could have nosed over £9k private, but not much more.

While yours is younger its relatively high mileage.....anything with an 8 at the front and you'd be doing ok.

I get the feeling second hand prices are "pick four numbers and start with the highest one"

Last year I was looking at how much our 106 should go for. I found cars similar size similar age for £500 - £2k, and older for more, and less, bigger cars for less... There appeared to be no rhyme or reason behind it
