H7 bulb fitting query
A quick sanity check here please...!
SWMBOs Alhambra failed the MoT this week on "NS headlamp aimed so that it dazzles other road users". The tester said "oh
that's the bulb fitted upside down that is, easy changed". Well I did replace the bulb recently so thought he might be right. Of course
on checking tonight you can only fit them one way in the housing.
Q....H7 bulbs surely aren't handed are they ?

in my experience it is more often that they are not seated properly rather than upside down (H4 is the one that's often uppydown). A quick
wiggle of the offending article will sort, possibly?

Definitely not handed - as said, they can be wedged in at an angle though

I've noticed when fitting new bulbs that the 'length' of beam varies from one bulb to the next. And yes they were seated correctly.
So now whenever I fit new bulbs I often have to adjust the beam up or down a turn or two.

No, they're not handed. Yes, they only fit one way. Yes, some people are capable of "making them fit" the wrong way.
Usually though they're either not seated correctly or the masking paint on the end has flaked or faded.

Thanks all for your input.
Just had it apart and made sure it's correctly seated and the paint on the end is fine too. Been out for a toot and the beam looks fine to me,
pointing downish and vaguely toward the kerb - certainly no flashes from oncoming traffic.
I'll re-present the car as is and see what the tester says.
