weird citroen zx clutch cable problem

has anyone had this before?

finished tinkering in the garage and with the clutch pedal fully pressed i selected reverse and then had a clonk and it stalled

clutch peddle went down to the floor

immediately i think bugger cable has snapped, now after further investigation its not snapped neither has the clip on the clutch fork end <insert much needed confused smiley here>
so i hook it all up again and re adjust and its working again, now i can only think the gearbox end outer or possibly the bulkhead bush has collapsed which then gave the slack, or am i missing something else?

will be trying to track down a new cable tomorrow so will investigate further then but i have never had this before, at least with old fords you knew it was the adjuster that was knackered lol

cheers

It's a Citroen, enough said. Only get a genuine cable though they are notorious for not liking non original cables.
