Unimaginable talent, balls and partnership

This is still one of my fave's - Tony Pond lapping the TT course in a road going Rover Vitesse aiming for 100mph+ average speed. The commentary he gives is so laid back it's comical.

Lovely clip. It is in a Manta 400 with Terry Harryman sat beside him. Bloody narrow though....

This is what happens if you give him a bit more room and about double the power

As for Pondy he was always like that when he was driving. The only time he got a bit nervous was when you were driving him. I drove him to the pub for lunch a few times when I was lucky enough to have worked with him and even going super steady he'd have white knuckles... RIP Tony

Thats when they had to drive the cars, no computers, proper gear levers and drive the cars as much with the feed back from your arse as from your arms. None of this point and squirt rubish we see these days.

To think that this was the era of alloy roll cages as well....

(Not saying that particular car has one, but many of the works cars had Matter shells which did have alloy cages.)

Funny how we all think the same, cars were cars and men were men sort of thing. Only yesterday I was watching one of my favourites - Walter Rohrl in the Audi stubby.

I am actually finding the Formula 1 more interesting to watch than any of the WRC stuff. The Irish tarmac guys are still putting up a good show, but the likes of touring cars , WRC is all pretty bland viewing.

Rallycross used to be really good, but even that has lost its edge, with the big bucks 4x4 cars, tends to be the same names winning every race.

A classic video , and who cares if its a repost.

Yeah,i was too young to appreciate it at the time but video's like these really show the skill and balls.not saying todays drivers dont have either, but it just doesn.t come across anymore when you watch them.

There's some cracking split screen footage of Walter Rohrl showing his feet as well as the view ahead. He's one amazing tap dancer!!

Ari + Peugeot + Pikes Peak = Sublime to watch (as I have done a number of times)

There's a couple of corners where he hangs the back wheels on the lip of the drop so tidly. I know it's coming and I know he holds it, but it still makes my buttocks clench
