are there any kit or race car manufacturers in Scotland?

more specifically near me? so west coast?

I want to work with one, but i can only find deanfield motorsport and turner automotive design, neither of which are particularly close (hour drive each way) and neither seem to build much. want to build chassis with someone

single seat hill climbers would be good too, even bus/coach/truck chassis builders

Can't think of any close to you Blake

The only kit manufacturer up here is Luego in Aberdeenshire, but that may as well be MK in Rotherham as far as your location is concerned!

thought that might be the case

i'd like to build and sell stuff on my own, but given i don't have the space, or money, or have ever built a chassis myself, and the pick up has taken me so long, and i didn't even do that one myself, i'd really need to work for someone else lol

I'm not sure there's the market up here for a brand-spanking-new kit-car company that would keep a few individuals gainfully employed. You'd need to capture some of the national market and whilst this may come across as a bit of a sweeping-statement, us Scots seem prepared to travel a fair distance to buy a product (matter of necessity usually). Whereas, our English cousins seem to be easily put off with traveling.

I think there might be a market however for a hi-spec 'Rage' style off-roader with a possible production racing series attached to it. Offer three variants...

1. Hi Spec BEC race-buggy
2. Tough as old-boots, easily operated (CVT), for the 'everyman'. Aim it at youngsters, farmers and also for supplying the growing 'activity-experience' marketplace.
3. A road-going version of either of the above.

^ totally agree. was only asking if there was any up here that i could contact and help out at. the market's definitely south of here

i have been thinking of grass track racer type cars (like on the berrisford site) and bec buggys.

wanted to find something small to start with, get my fabrication experience up, something like small soapbox type cars, unpowered, downhill things.

as for the national market, thats why i fancy something different. 7's are everywhere. every man and his dog makes a chassis for them, i like stuff thats different!

Saturn sportscars- Peoples Republic of Hartlepool
Blitz Buggies at Tow Law are as close as yo will get to sunny Scotland I think, there's a couple of lads set up somewhere near Hexham who I understand are kit finishers rather than new design / build merchants.

Can I just say Rotor as a Scottish racing car manufacturer, as per my previous posts.

Lots of projects still ongoing at various stages.
Properly scratch build racing cars from the ground up.

Blake

Rotor is not really the organisation where you get a job as such.
It's more of a one man operation with a co-operative of helpers who go along whenever they can to help out.
I'm one of the helpers.
