Silver to Black

Looking for a stock 2.0 zetec silvertop engine as a spare, but not many around, however there are loads of Blacktops! what are the practical issues of swapping silver top to black if I need to replace my engine?

Cheers

The water pumps are differant so maybe a little plumbing to do and an idler for the alternator belt.

Silver vs Black

A little way off for my build but here goes......

Intention was a silvertop on bike throttle bodies but finding the same supply issues for s/h motors.
Found several blacktop mondeos etc being scrapped with low ish milage but...

I have been told must get a silvertop with webers in order to pass emissions.

Truth is ???????????

You'll need a pre '95 silver top if you want to benefit from less stringent emmission requirements.

The alternator bracket mounting holes are different, I think both engine mount holes centres are different and the water pump outlet is smaller and angled differently, you will also need an idler for the water pump drives the belt routes differently.
I found it worth the effort to change as the black top seems to run a lot better than the silver top did with no hydraulic lifters to cause problems.
