Just up the road from me. Anyone want me to drive over there and see if there are any 'bits' of F1 laying about?

I love this car!
Have lusted after one of these since I first saw it on 'Bugs' back in 1994!
With only 67* built there's no call to go taking risks by actually driving them!!! ;-)
*road cars
Really hope it's repairable, but a fire doesn't sound good does it!
I've seen it (when in for a service) in the flesh along with Gordon Murray's (bearing gone in diff) and Phil Collins'
manager's (crashed into the back of a tractor!) when the F1 servicing was briefly done at the main Mclaren factory. Goddamn they're lovely
cars!

James, I thought they sent out a couple of blokes in a van to service them?
Met one crew years ago in Knightsbridge just after they'd serviced a customer's car.
In the days of mobile comms being in it's infancy they were down-loading data back to Woking for that car and analysing the performance etc.
They told of one customer in Germany who's F1 was plugged in and they thought it had a major problem in that the speedo was reading max quite
frequently.
On contacting the customer he said " Of courze it will - that's why I bought it".
Transpires he was a banker, lived in somewhere like Frankfurt but worked in Bonn (something like 150 miles) so bought the F1 as a means of high speed
commuting - how the other halv live!
Cheers, Pewe

That's the auto ban system in the north. Having had a locostbuilder drive me across Germany in his big works Audi
at some very high speeds I can say it's quite an experience.
He does some high speeds everyday and he admits traffic is an issue even if it's traveling at 70 in the same direction

There is no way a >£500,000 car is going to get 'written off' is there, even if nearly every single part was replaced it would still
cost less than a replacement F1

Yes, he hit a Metro at a tee-junction in High Etherly, just outside of Bishop Auckland. The figures quoted at the time were
£150 to replace and paint drivers side front wing on Metro
£100,000 to repair damage to F1, whoops
