It's a lot of money but at least we can still make Kit Cars in the UK, some countries can't.
My Daughter has taken over production of the damn fine Triton race seats and her contact email is emmatrs@live.co.uk.

Yes, it does sound a lot of money, but, that money is going to the government, and hence it helps them to 'boost the economy'.
However, to put it more into perspective, an MOT test is now £54.85 and takes about 30 mins - for your £450 you get about 300 mins testing - yes, it
really DOES take that long.
First registration is £55.
Numberplates about £20.
Car tax is £210.
Insurance (whilst building) is about £50 to £85.
On the road insurance depends on a lot of things - mainly age - see THIS
thread.
Yes, you might concievably build one for under £250 but on the road......
Luego Locost C20XE.
Build start: October 6th 2008.
IVA passed Jan 28th 2011.
First drive Feb 10th 2011.
First show: Stoneleigh 1st/2nd May 2011.
'Used up' first engine may 3rd 2011!
Back on the road with 2nd engine may 24th
First PASA mad drive 26/7/11
Sold to Mike in Methyr Tydvil 19/03/14

It sucks. And for my £540 they missed serious problems like a fuel leak and leaking front brakes, which is disappointing to say the least. I only
found out about the brakes later on when the rear stepped out under hard braking.
