Drums are fine on a light car, you will need the long diff for a bike engine but for car engine and 1.6 pinto a 3.9 would make a world of difference.

and make a better / more reliable handbrake too

there are plenty of folk selling conversion kits and I've even got a pair of recon calipers going spare (that I could do with selling)
but is it really worth it ?

I converted my Drums to discs, if you send me your email by U2U, I will return you a write up of how to do it, complete with Pics.

well they are here if you want them - I've not got the carriers for them, just the calipers themself, but they've never been used since they were reconed
and since your only just up the road you wouldn't need to pay any postage

new rear calipers
new rear calipers
