You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

Those pics take me back, emigrated to Canada in 73 when I was 20. The firm I worked for in St Catherines near the US border laid me off after 8 months so bought a 1963 Buick Wilcat convertible for 50 bucks and worked my way down the east coast of the states doing oddjobs ended up in Tallahasee then got fed up and moved back.
Being a brit in the states back then got you invited back to loads of homes for food and lodging and the girlies were falling over themselves, happy days.
Cheers,
Bob

Friend of mine saw my 66 Dodge Dart GT jacked up like that after I sold it for a 66 427 Vette roadster and told the new owner never to to take in to the area I lived in or he might be found dead. When I sold the Dodge it had a full Barracuda Formula S package, pirelli radials,(nearly unknown on American cars at that time).

When I worked in a garage in the early 80s, there was a Ford Escort MK1 in for an mot. Much fuss around it from the mechanics.

jacked up at the rear, but instead of using longer purpose made shackles, they had made a set up with dexian shelf racking.

Fail

The 70's were so bad it is hard to describe. No prospects, no hope... It was BAD design decade. I remember the singer in our band (The MopeHeads - no you wouldn't have heard of us) and I used to chop up trouser legs to make them stovepipes, cause everything was flares. Of course, now, it was great times since we were all so much younger etc.

in the 70s in Bury Lancs i saw parked on a town centre car park a beautiful MK1 Capri with mad custum paint job, huge slot alloys on the back which was jacked up a good 4 foot and tiny slot alloys on the front. I thought i'll have a look inside, it had mirrored windows all round, so i go up to it and get my face as close as i could to have a good look inside. As well as a lovely carpeted dash and furry dice it had the "proud" owner and a lady friend naked from the waist down doing what nature intended ooops luckly they didn't notice a very embrassed me .... but fair play to them it was dinner time in a very busy car park
