Can't wait to get it home and start stripping it out ready for the hills!

What are your plans for it??
I had an early S1 Elise and loved it, a bit underpowered but handled like a dream. MMC discs were a bit dodgy in the rain though!

havn't they got bonded chassis or something that mean they can't be fixed up after a smash?
Sorry for being ignorant, I can just see some pretty serious damage, and I'm curious how your gonna get it safe enough to drive.

That's crash-box damage that you can see... it can be replaced.

No blog Steve - it'll wee the 'purists' off too much!
Planning on some limited mods for now - just want to get it out on the hills - will ditch anything not needed - should get some cash back for the
seats and trim bits! Although I've got a set of bike throttle bodies and a DIY manifold kit on the shelf. And an Emerald ECU.....
Need to get a rear cage sorted (on the case), seat (in the garage), harness (robbed from Elan!), extinguisher (robbed from Elan too - have 2
brackets) and battery master switch (Cartek in the garage too).
Dangle_kt - the damaged bit at the front is the crash box and rad - it's a consumable on these cars and my mate makes them (along with the clams
etc.) There's no major chassis damage. We'll put an Exige front clam on (bit of a fiddle) and may change the rear for an Exige one too
depending on cash!
First event (Llandow sprint 5th May.......!

Don't be! This is going to be hard work. And I'm trying to do do it on a cost neutral basis! All the money I put into it has to come from
selling other stuff! I've just sold my spare Elan shell and a box trailer (that my wife hated) so I'm off to a start and she's happy
(ish!)

There's a discussion on Pistonheads in the kit car section about rebodying Mk1 Elises with something else. Most people are saying not to bother,
but if you've got the opportunity... Of course, it would cost an awful lot to design a new body, make some moulds, and make the replacement
clams but it's a nice thought.

In my opinion, I'm not sure how you could improve on the Elise / Exige...............

I often see S1 Exige panel sets on ebay around the £2k mark. Not sure how they would attach to the S2 tub, but that would be if possible!

Cheers Scott - that's an S1. Mine's an S2. My mate tried an Exige front clam on it this morning - just needs some new quarter panels (the
small ones behind the wheels) and a couple of other bits!

Nice project Wyn. Hope you get it all done in time. Although I have to say its a shame it's not a toyota 190 lump in the back!
Have Fun.

Cheers Rob - the Toyota motor adds a couple of thousand to the price! There are plenty of alternatives to the K and toyota engines - quite a few
S2000s.....
But I'll stick with the K for now! The 160 engine from the MG is pretty much a straight swap!
