first start-water issue

Got my first successful starts out of the way but now the jobs are rolling in. The first is, im not sure the water is circulating. The 1.8 zetec was running for a while (10-15 mins) and quick squirt ua few hundred metres up the road and the temp did rise slightly. I could take the lid of the resivoir and touch the water though which cant be right. I think the water pump is ok as the engine is firstly a 1.8 and so shouldnt need reversing its flow and secondly it was out of another kitcar in one whole piece. I dont have a bleed valve on the raiotor though, is there a way to do this without one?

thanks

Is youre system plumbed in correctly? Not as simple an answer as you might think. I had mine simple, which should have flowed, but my expansion tank was connected wrong, so i couldnt get rid of the air.

Works perfectly now though.

Kindest Regards,
Richard.
