Which smallish estate
Thinking of swapping the Mondeo for a small/medium sized estate, so looking for recommendations/don't touch with a bargepole warnings.
Want a used car (newer than 08 or so) that handles reasonably (mondeo is benchmark) and reasonably fuel efficient though my heart is saying petrol
this time - I've had 3 diesels in a row.
Possibles on the list so far:
Focus Estate
C-Max
Volvo V50
Octavia, or maybe a Fabia (though I think they're ugly in estate form)

V70 everytime out of that list. Only other car I would consider would be a 3 series estate but imagine for age they are out of budget.

C max doesn't make a good estate (my dad has an 06 version, later ones may be better)
Focus difficult to beat in all reality............

V70's not on the list
V50 (IMHO) is absolute pants as I've said several times I think....

From your list, my choice would be Octavia or Focus (on which the V50 is based). TBH I can't think of much else in that class that would tempt
me greatly. Sister has a Megane estate which seems pretty good, but I'm not sold on the styling myself.

Don't think I'd describe a V70 as small to medium sized
My only problem with a car longer than a mondeo is it will get really hard to get out of my drive as reversing onto the street isn't safe.

I've got a v50 r design, and love it. I would consider the v70 next though as they have loads more space in the boot for all the kids stuff :-)

Octavia for me, every day of the week. They have an enormous amount of room inside, they are well finished and pretty decent to drive (well...as good
as any VAG product).

Good point, the Octavia probably has the biggest load area in class.

All entitled to their views on the S40/V50 I guess I've driven VAG cars for too long to adapt (and suffer)

Scot's do it better in Kilts.
