Insurance...

Hi

I have recently purchased a 1997 Z3 for my brother in law. My "problem" is I have a full UK driving license BUT I am an expat.

The brother in law is happy for me to put my name on the car but every insurance I tried ALL say NO.

So, my question to this fountain of knowledge is: does anyone know of a way around this?

Its crazy as all I want to do is get in the car and drive it to the boat. Approximately 200 miles!! And be legal for this.

ANY help is appreciated...

Andy

Just add as you would a normal uk driver licensed to your brothers address.

Insure it in your "home" country, by adding it to an existing policy, as a car that you have bought. Or,.. ensure that you have 3rd party - drive anything on your own policy, and cover yourself that way. The only problem I see is that neither of these will be on the Motor insurance database thingy,...

Get someone else to drive it? Where is the car located?

It wouldn't cost much to have a uk citizen of 'decent age' to add the car for a day to their existing policy. Then you drive it off the boat

Put me on the insurance, buy me a plane ticket and I will deliver it for you :-p Might end up putting more than 200 miles on the clock though :p

Thanks everyone. I have ALMOST got cover for the Z3.

17€ a month 3rd party fire and theft!! 210€ a year.

Imagined it to be at least double that.
