Worcester Boiler Problems
My grandparents have a worcester combi boiler , model 24i RSF. The hot water side works as it should but the heating wont work. Occasionally you can
get it to come on for about 10 mins by turning it on when the hot tap is running but this is very intermittent.
They have had a quote from a plumber to replace the PCB as he thought that it may solve the problem however at £300 they werent too keen if it didnt
come with any guarantees. Since then I have changed the PCB for them however it has not fixed it . I have bypassed the on/off unit on the front to
confirm that is not faulty and done the same with the thermostat .
What else could it be before they have to call out a plumber. The fault is only with the heating.

I had a fault with my Worcester Bosch combi just out of warranty,
I think WB wanted circa £400 for a one of repair, British Gas £200 ish?, turned out to be digital thermostat appeared to be working ( even with a
meter across it!) but boiler didnt fire up, shorted the terminals in the boiler and it started fine.
Replace digital thermostat with bog standard rotary version.

Temp sensor? There is a dhw and a ch one try swap them if you then get ch but no dhw thats yer answer
Diverter valve? Is this stuck to the dhw side ie faulty motor or seized valve
Make sure your room stat and clock are calling for heat if wireless stat/clock

It sounds very much like the symptoms my boiler (not a Worcester) had with a stuck diverter valve....

Would it still fire up if it was the diverter valve? It isn't firing up.

Divert valve, just remove actuator and clamp a pair of molegripps on it so the weight of the grips hold it shut. Try it one way then the other, this
will let you know whats wrong.

I can guarantee it's not the diverter valve.......a 24i RSF hasn't got one.
Would replace the CH thermistor first and see if that cures it.
If not u2u me.

ok , sounds like you have experienced this boiler before. I willl fit a new thermistor and see what happens. is there anyway i can test it? what else
would it likely to be if its not this?
