BEWARE PARKING FINES
WARNING TO ALL
Returned from hols yesterday to find 2 'Parking Fines' from a private company called Parking Eye. Both relate to a visit by my wife to a
car park near home a couple of weeks ago when she paid for 2 hrs parking but overstayed by less than 20 minutes. The 'fines' demanded £60
to be paid before today or it would go up to £90....foolishly we paid up.
Research on google into Parking Eye has left me fuming. Hundreds of complaints and the fines do not appear to be enforcable, they also need to be able
to prove who was driving the car not just that it was in the car park. They use camera's to record the vehicles entry /exit into the car park
and ANPR to obtain registererd keeper details
If you are unfortunate enough to receive an invoice (apparently thats what it is as they dont have any power to impose fines)from this company then
the overwhelming advice is to ignore it. Obviously the decision whether to pay is down to the individual but please do a bit of research before
parting with your hard earned cash.
Also spread the word, ive lost £60, i dont want anyone else to lose money to these people, its apparent they 'manage' car parks all over
the country including retail parks, motorway services etc etc

Shame you didn't google 1st, they are currently not enforceable but I believe the law changes in October when they will be able to pursue the
registered keeper for the "fine" there not really "fines" but as you say invoices at the moment.
I always file them in file B one N (b1n)

From 1st of October they can "ask" the registered keeper to make a voluntary contribution (pay up) if the driver cannot/ is not
identified. HOWEVER, they are still just as speculative and unenforceable that hasn't changed.
If you do ge any of these from a private company the best thing is to ignore them but don't throw them away just in case the take a punt in
court.
This advice is for private companies looking after private parking.
Council tickets and those issued by private companies working for a council must not be ingored as they are legally enforceible.
Tickets issued at railway stations need to be treated with caution some are potentially legally enforceable under bylaw 14.

But it will be dressed up to look like a fine; Was it very official looking with either stuff to look like a court document or police
"checker" markings?
The Aldi store next to work has them and plenty get caught out. Ignore them and ignore the more threatening letters that come after; They'll go
away after a while despite threatening court action.

I had one in Asda's carpark, due to there cock up, and went to see the manager, he just ripped it up, and threw it in the bin, and said, i would
never hear another thing about it

Yes it was dressed up to look like a fine, checker markings around the border etc etc. ....... ive considered that they may be obtaining cash by
deception...but i'm sure they will have covered any loop holes so lesson learned and that car park wont be getting any of our custom again.
The system does apply to car parks that offer a free parking period as well such as motorway services if you stay longer than the free period. Best
thing to do is have a good read of the signage in the car park.

What about a hospital car park run by Vinci parking? Same thing, official looking but headed parking charge notice?
