A bit of trumpet blowing!
We often get to hear when folks have a bit of a crappy experience with companies, but today, I had two very good results.
I contacted Carnaby Powder Coating near Bridlington the other day and arranged to drop-off a set of wheels for coating. I'd had them blasted by
a friend of a friend, which turned out to be very expensive and very rough, but the guys at CPC refinished the rims and told me to pop back in a
couple of hours. I had to go to Leeds for the guys at Dunning and Fairbank to look at the propshaft off my Transit. They had a looksy and even though
they were busy, asked me to leave it with them for 30 minutes and they'd have it done. That included four new Hardy Spicer U/Js, a new sliding
section and two new support bearings. They rang me ten minutes later to say that one of the bearings they had in stock was the wrong one but
they'll post the prop back to me. Total cost....£130 plus a tenner for the postage. That's less than Ford wanted for the two support
bearings! I then had to pop to Britannia Cooling to collect a new radiator for the Transit (it all broke at once!) and the poor guy there met me with
the rad. And he wanted £100 for it. I showed him their own website listing at £51 but he couldn't do anything until the boss got back from
Lanzarote. So that company are not too good but a big shout out for Dunning and Fairbank in Leeds and Carnaby Powder Coating in, er, Carnaby, who had
my nice new rims ready by the time I got back to them. Rims were £20 each for metallic silver. Also, as well as making propshafts for our little cars,
Dunning and Fairbank can make front drive shafts with high speed CV joints, which is handy as the ones on the front of my Transit are about jaked!

nice to hear about good service and without hi-jacking your thread, andy bates from AB performance is an absolute gent. i was going to fit a full
blade package from him but decided to buy a busa instead from someone else. he still helps me with all my questions and does more than he should to
help. all ive bought from him is one of his prop adadptors (which is of very good quality)and he always keeps in touch with everything im doing and
offers sound advice.
if everyone in the kit car scene was as dedicated and helpful as him, we would all be done a fair bit quicker,on budget and with quality items. top
top man.!

Aren't they all?! (was in response to the 'cash eater' comment!!)
To be fair, I could have done the one knackered U/J myself with a £6 kit off EBay but I don't like doing stuff twice! The prop will have done
160,000 miles so if it's good for the same again, I won't complain. The radiator has a 'inspected' sticker on it dated January
2012 so it's not 'worn out' but something has clouted it and made a tiny hole. I could have 'fixed' it with a blob of
chemical metal or other clart but I know it would fail just when I don't want it to! So I can't blame the Transit for the busted rad. I
can blame the Transit for having stupid Torxy-spliney bolts holding the prop on though....
And as I'm hoping this vehicle will be a keeper, it's worth looking after it!
ETA the bracketed comment at the top!
