Ford Ka bonnet release - help

Morning, well after an hour of messing about I still cannot get the bonnet open on my daughters 2003 Ka. The cable is moving freely but the latch is not releasing in the bonnet. I have disconnected the lever inside the car to get more pull, but still not getting the release. Any ideas??

In the manual there is an emergency release diagram
May need drilling some plastic in the grill

You've probably already tried one person pressing down slightly on the bonnet whilst another operates the release lever ?

Yes tried that, a little frustrating to say the least, not helped by daughter saying "so you are building a kit car but can't undo my bonnet hmmmm" thx love!
Haven't got a manual,,,,,,,,yet..
Google didn't help either.

I can get to the yellow lever and move it, but it's as if it needs another release first ??

Got it!!! Had to get a bit heavy handed (big bloke on bonnet) and fiddling and swearing later it popped. Loads of WD40 and grease before I close it again....

Banging the front of the bonnet often helps when someone is pulling the release lever. A little TLC in the first place can save a lot of hassle. Wonder when the bonnet was last opened?

Rusty, she is learning at the moment so only a few miles a week, to be fair it was my own fault because I noticed it was not quite right before. Doh
