availlablecar.com rofl

Called today shown an interest in a couple of cars both over £12k.

Sat down had a chat whilst they "apraised" our trade in.

2006 307cc with 75k on clock, used but good condition for year everything works, well serviced with long test, eBay see's them listed starting around £4k private well over £5k trade with the cheapest been £2.5k for a salvage car that's had a right whack up the rear damaging the boot and roof mechanism.

Against a £12k + car when asked what we wanted for it I said £4k (with the expectation of been negotiated down to around £3k) what was their offer ?

£1500!!!!!

I explained it wasn't a 1993 cavalier and left, whilst I appreciate they have to make a profit £1500 was an absolute insult to our intelligence.

Off to auction in new year, expect to pick up similar car with less miles for about £10k plus buyers premium, stick swimbo's car on eBay, £3.5 best offer take the 1st offer of £3k or more job done and rant over.

availablecar.com my butt.

Car Giant offered me £1.5k for a 7k Nissan Navara few years ago.

I laughed and asked if he was serious... apparently yes

Well you got 2 choices, take it or don't

However I don't think the staff would be there long if half the people laughed at their offers

They don't really want the PX's they rather sew up a nice deal on credit

Always makes me laugh when buying new they will say "How about this extra and how about that extra ?"
Then when you come to swop it in they'll say "Well its a nice spec' but people aren't buying the higher spec' cars anymore..."

Odd, when we bought the mondeo he said that higher spec models attract a premium because the kind of people that buy them look after them and have them for years.

Then again I suppose they'd say it'll have your babies to get the best price
