Fiesta driverside door lock
I'm stuck with daughters X reg mk 4 fiesta. Driver door wont open. Locks are mechanical. Interior handle doesn't do anything. Exterior
handle doesn't do anything. Key doesn't lock or unlock it. I have removed with some prejudice the door card but the mechanism is covered
in metal and plastic so I can't get at it. And obviously I can't get the door open to remove the lock screws.
Apart from scrap it what do I do? Help!

Remove the cover? iirc they're stuck on with some sealant stuff, just cut/pry the cover off (via the sealant) and fix it.

Can you pull the button up inside to make sure it is unlocked ? You need to follow the rod from the door handle to the catch to make sure it is still
connected to the little lever that it operates. You should be able to get at it with the window wound up even if it is difficult and needs small
hands.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Does it have central locking at all, or used to?
If so it may be dead locked and it needs to be unlocked via the key. Check the key barrel is not loose in the door skin and therefore not moving The
rod enough.
Do you feel any resistance when using the key, internal or external handle? Kind of like its sprung loaded? Or does it feel loose?
If it has no central locking then its unusual for Tge locking much to go wonkey unless its been bent.
Check your rods are connected.

Metal anti tamper cover is joined to the window channel which is stack with sealant but also two screws, One of which can only be reached in the door
shut when the door is open. The cover will not pry more than 1/4 inch and gives no access.
Never had any electrics/central locking/solenoid.
No button inside. Locking is push on the inside opener handle. Pull unlocks and then opens or should do.
All rods still seem to be connected.
Key barrel is firm in the door. Key turns in the unlock position easily. Feels connected and as if it has tripped the unlock mechanism but it
hasn't. Won't turn in the lock direction. Feels solid when turned that way.
Spare key opens boot and passenger door fine but no effect in the driver door.

Try giving it a good soaking in penetrating oil or WD40 , had had similar problems with various doors and have found some door locks to have been
sprayed with white grease which dries out causing the mechanisms to stick

Is if used regularly?
Depending on the colour of the car i would consider wrecking the door to get it open and off. Get a good quality second hand one from a breakers. May
only be £30 quid or so.

It could be an over slam --- try firmly pushing the door closed as you operate the handle
