RE. Rover 800's Engine(4cylinder), gearbox, clutch and comfort all absolutely fine. Steering, brakes, handing and electrical reliability
absolute crap. There must be something better out there.

Alfa 166? You should get a V6 for around that figure.
Eletrical reliability might still be an issue though!

Jag S type fits the bill
You'd be surprised how quickly the sales people at B&Q try and assist you after ignoring you for the past 15 minutes when you try and start a

Don't let the mythical bmw build quality fool you - the bits that fail on Rovers of that era are generally the bmw bits
I had an 827 (with the Honda engine) and thought it was a great car.

I had a simillar issue with my peugeot years ago. The French bits were fine, everything that broke on that car was stamped Made in Germany.
I found an 827 but it seems dodgy from the number of spares it's being supplied with.

Would you have been happier if they had needed to fit the spares?
(I know what you mean though, anything strange is best avoided!)

From the sound of the ad, it needs some of the spares fitting, the really worrying bit was multiple spares of some things which to me suggests
something is really wrong and someone has already had a go and failed at fixing it.
Sometimes a car just seems wrong or dodgy, and you know you'll not forgive yourself when the car you had a bad feeling about dies on you,
especially as allmost all of my journys at the moment are in Bristol, on city streets where if I break down I'm going to have to push it a fair
way to not be blocking the road.
