1.8 Blacktop Zetec - running temp / fan switch / ford ECU - help!

What temp. should the fan kick in on a 1.8 blacktop ?

its in a focus and I'm told that its swiched by the ECU and not a seperate fan switch - is that right ?

so far I've had it up to 110°C (on the OBDII reader) and tried fuses, relays, and even 2 different fans

neather fan would run with 12v put throught them, but no engine temp would give me 12v at the fan either ??

any suggestions ?

cheers
-Robert

ISTR On the Silvertop first speed cuts in at 105c on full speed at 118c which is fine if the rad is holding pressure.
On most cars built in the last 15 years the temperature gauge will stay on "N" between 75c and 115c.

If it worries you you could put a conventional fan switch in the top hose.

as far as I know this fan only has one speed - the fan itself looks fairly basic and only has 2 wires...

thinking back I havn't heard it going for ~6 months or more
