My car can fix itself, Im serious!!

OK so a little long but I have 2 good reasons to think this.

1) After the winter I put my battery back on, heated the oil (2deg outside!) and went to crank. Nothing but a click. Kept on clicking on every push of the starter until I noticed the voltage was dropping. Well, I thought, I know this happened last year and a little tap 'd' tap on the starter while pulsing the start button will get the starter freed up. So I got another car to jump the battery and give me more oomph and tapped away. It freed up and the car started. I left it to warm up and do a fan cycle while checking the rest of the car. Turned it off. Went to crank and nothing again. Jumper car on and still nothing. Hmm Starter stuffed? I took the starter off and dismantled it. It was spotless, not a sausage to be concerned with. Ok, I thought stick it all back on and must be a duff battery. So I took the battery off chucked in some Bat-Aid tablets and gave it a good charge over night. Put it on the next day, NOTHING! So I thought Ill check earths and good unresistive pos supply by using the jumper car again. After neg on starter and pos on battery cut off (approx 400mm of cable from starter) it cranked. Must be one of them then. Took off one, it cranked. Took off the other, it cranked. I have tried starting it every night since approx 5 times each night in quick succession on the normal battery without charging it and it has not missed a beat since. HOW IS THIS?!

2) So while the car was being warmed up before I took it for a spin I was checking all of the lights. I found out I had no indicators. Checked the obvious things and got to checking loose connections on the relay and plugs behind the dash. Now being self confessed gooden with electrics quickly I found that a wire jiggle would fix it but I could not hunt down the loose plug which is strange for me. I am normally very fast with fault finding electrics. What was really strange is when I put the hazards on the high beam light on the dash flashed and not the green repeater lights on the dash, they are not even on the same circuit!!! I went back to individual indicators and they started working fine. All of the pulling, scrunching and jiggling I could muster would not rebreak the lights to start to fault find again. Better than that the hazard \ high beam fixed it self to! I did not do anything to fix this and cant stop it working now.

I took the car for a 40min drive yesterday and it was faultless. Started several times, indicators worked every time. I just dont get it.

What will pi$$ me off is I have to go from SE London to Procomp on saturday, I really hope these gremlins dont come back.

As above 2nd defo an earth fault, the Q of course is where? My guess would be somewher around the dash area, but earth faults are rarely logical!

Probably shooting myself in the foot for a sale here, but TBH I think it unlikely from your description of the first fault that it would be the battery at fault (although in my experience Bat Aid tablets have never improved anything), Having re read your description of the fault my suspicion would be with either main battery earth path between battery & starter or (more likely I think) in the positive pathe from the battery thro' the switch to starter solenoid. If it was mine I would remove all of the terminals in both those paths, clean them all up, particulary if there's any of that nasty green copper oxide gunk or the white oxidation which sometimes occurs, & bolt back together with a smear of copper ease then cover with white grease. HTH
