Toothed-Belt or Chain?

If you could have either on a bike engined project, then what would you go for (and why)?

I hate the messiness of chains, so would be drawn more to a kevlar-type belt.

... I'm also led to believe that a belt is quieter and doesn't stretch like a chain, so no need for adjusters.

But how strong are they???

They can shift a Harley no problem, and that's all weight vs torque. Not sure about the adjusters though, you still need some method of tensioning the belt. I'd expect no need for 'adjustment' rather than no 'adjusters'.

Top fuel superchargers apparently cost 1000bhp to run - all through the toothed belt! Might be a bit big though...

We were considering a belt for the new MNR GM3, but after speaking to andy bates who has tried using belts, we reverted back to the old chain.

Harley belts are Nightmare to "adjust/tension" Without the complex HD shop equipment. Get it wrong and they snap.
