well, its been a long time, but first drive!

yep, a very long build, not much money, and still a long way to go, but i finally managed a quick drive of the pickup yesterday

engine wouldn't rev, idled very high (air leak at the intake? only had a few bolts holding it on), and leaked stuff everywhere (petrol mostly... from the front of the carbs, think its the angle they sit at, need setting up, and a new manifold made) clutch was very heavy but it worked, and leaked.
i guess its kinda been at this stage for a long time, but i wanted the full loom and megajolt in before i tried, but i'm still waiting for that.

long way to go still...

the zx9r carbs have to go horizontal to fit in the space, can they be set up to work properly at that angle? what pressure? even at 0.5psi the carbs leaked. i'm guessing its the angle they sit at?

engine was very noisy, suspect the exhaust has a slight leak somewhere too, it was only on quickly.

seems to get very hot very quickly too, connected to an air leak in the intake perhaps? only ran it for less than a minute at a time

need to get a shortened sump on it too. anyone got an old red top, x20xev, or pretty much any other vauxhall 4 cylinder engined sump with pick up pipe i can try modding?

any help available to help me get on with this build would be VERY much appreciated

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

The fuel leak could well be float valve not seating properly.
