What to do with an old V5?
Hi all
I have just found an old V5 for car that was scrapped a couple of years ago, sadly I could not find the V5 at the time of scrapping the car so could
not hand it over to the scrap yard.
I have kept the car sorn'd each year since then to avoid the fine from the DVLA .
Looking threw the V5 there does not appear to be a section to say the car has been permanently removed from the road and the only way to declare it as
scrapped it to hand it over to a scrap yard.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of problem as it would be nice to just get rid of it so i don't have to do a sorn each year for a
car that no longer exists?
Cheers

Write to the dvla explaining and include v5. Should sort it.

Call the DVLA and ask or write and inform them, can't be an uncommon situation and you haven't done anything improper.

They just need your name - address - signature to the effect that you no longer have the car..
Own chassis & Build - First time pass!!
"7's" aren't really "cars", they are 'experiences"

I actually spoke to the DVLA a couple of weeks ago about this. I was told to send the V5 to them with
a covering letter stating I had personally scrapped the vehicle.
